Currently, five lift chair series are available: Traditional, Signature, Comforter, MaxiComfort, and Value Series. Medicare will only cover the seat-lift mechanism, but not the actual chair itself. The reimbursment amount is roughly $300 depending on the state in which the beneficiary is located and if coverage criteria are met. Medicare has certain coverage criteria to qualify a patient medically for a seat-lift mechanism. A lift chair would be considered medically necessary if ALL of the following coverage criteria are met:
*Difficulty getting up from a chair is not sufficient justification for a seat lift mechanism.
